🔥 D.C. DOWNLOAD - News Recap for May 12–18
🧨 DC DOWNLOAD: Week of May 26–June 1 Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill," a sweeping package of tax cuts, military expansion, and border funding is hitting resistance in the Senate, with Republican infighting stalling its progress. Medicaid cuts and scrapped clean energy funds aren’t exactly winning hearts, and even Rand Paul is pushing back on the proposed $5 trillion debt ceiling hike (despite voting for the tax breaks that helped create it). Meanwhile, Trump’s trade war is back in style, with tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum set to double to 50%, a sudden 180 after green-lighting the Nippon Steel buyout of U.S. Steel. In true authoritarian fashion, the administration is also targeting international students, gutting $3.7 billion in clean energy grants, and trying to choke off funding for NPR and PBS, all while tossing out celebrity pardons like party favors. Todd and Julie Chrisley, anyone?

🏛️ What’s Coming Up in Congress (Week of June 2, 2025)
In the Senate:
Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” is under review — a sweeping package that makes his 2017 tax cuts permanent, slashes green energy funding, eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, boosts border and defense spending, and adds Medicaid restrictions. But it’s already hitting procedural roadblocks. Several non-budget items (like deregulating gun silencers, banning Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care, and blocking state-level AI laws) may violate reconciliation rules and get tossed by the Senate parliamentarian. Internal GOP tensions over the bill's scope are also slowing things down.
In the House:
The House is back in session Tuesday, June 3, with evening votes expected. On the docket:
H.R. 2483 – SUPPORT for Patients & Communities Reauthorization Act
H.R. 2931 – Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act
H.R. 2987 – Capping Excessive Awarding of SBLC Entrants Act
H.R. 2966 – American Entrepreneurs First Act
It’s a mix of healthcare, small biz policy, and GOP messaging bills aimed at immigration and entrepreneurship.

👑 IROC's No Kings! Rally - Jun 14th 12-2 PM
NO KINGS. NO CROWNS. NO TYRANTS.
We didn’t throw off a monarchy just to hand the reins to a con man in a bad suit.
We dumped tea in 1773. Declared independence in 1776. Fought off tyranny until 1783.
And now, in 2025, Trump is clawing for a throne this country already reduced to rubble.
He wants power without accountability. A crown without a people.
But we know how this story ends, kings fall when the people rise.
Join us as we make it loud and clear:
We don’t do monarchs. We do DEMOCRACY.
📍 Saturday, June 14th | 12–2PM | Four Corners, Nanuet, NY
Bring your signs, your voices, and your revolutionary spirit.
Because history can’t repeat, so we must resist.
