Register voters
Applications must be received by Oct 24. Set up at community events and farmers markets. Voters can use the registration link on their phones, or bring paper forms from the Board of Elections.
Get trained to protect the vote
Election protection only works if people are trained before voting starts. Choose inside the polls, outside the polls, or both.
Inside the polls: NY Dems poll watcher
Trainings run twice a week. This is the only way to do election protection inside a polling place. You'll get the NY Dems Voter Protection inside-the-polls toolkit when you sign up.
Know an attorney? Volunteer attorneys are urgently needed for voter protection, especially here in Rockland. Send them this link.
Questions about voter protection? Chat live with NYS Dems Voter Protection using the chat bubble in the lower right corner of this page.
Outside the polls: Common Cause
Learn to support voters outside polling places, either at one site or roving among several. Sign up to get training dates and updates.
Early voting: get out the vote
Nine days of voting. This is when canvassing and rides matter most.
Keep canvassing
Get-out-the-vote shifts during early voting have the biggest payoff of the whole campaign. Deep canvassing shifts continue in Spring Valley. Your local Democratic committee is organizing shifts too.
Give a ride, get a ride
Need a ride to the polls? Have a car and a few free hours? Volunteer drivers are giving free rides during early voting and on Election Day. Sign up and we'll match you.
Election Day
Vote, then make sure everyone you know does too.
Vote
Haven't voted early? Today you vote at your assigned poll site, which may be different from your early voting site. Look it up before you go.
Tell 3 friends to tell 3 friends
Text three people today and ask them to vote and to pass it on to three more. Share these rights with them:
- Polls are open 6 AM to 9 PM. If you're in line by 9 PM, you can vote.
- Not on the list? Ask for an affidavit ballot. It counts once your registration is confirmed.
- Most voters don't need ID in New York.
- Made a mistake on your ballot? Ask for a new one. Don't cast it.
- Need help voting? Bring someone you trust, as long as it isn't your employer or union rep.
- Problems at the polls? Call 844-NY-VOTES.
If something doesn't look right, speak up. Long lines that aren't moving, broken machines, voters being turned away, or anyone being pressured or intimidated near a poll site: call 844-NY-VOTES and report it. You don't have to be sure it's a problem to call.
